eucrosia

eucrosia is a small genus and contains only 8 species, native to ecuador and peru. they are sometimes called peruvian lilies. but this name seems to be more common for the members of the (not related) genus alstroemeria.

the most common species over here in germany is eucrosia bicolor. the red flowering and spoon leaved plant can reach about 50 cm (19.69 inches) in height.
